History Of Faisal Mosque Pakistan

This Blog is about the landmark mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan. For for the mosque in Sharjah, UAE, see King Faisal Mosque, Sharjah. The Faisal Mosque (Urduفیصل مسجد‎, romanizedfaisal masjid) is a mosque in Islamabad, the federal national capital city of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. It is the fifth-largest mosque in the world and the largest mosque in Pakistan, as well as its national mosque.[n 1] It is located on the foothills of Margalla Hills in Islamabad. The mosque features a contemporary design consisting of eight sides of concrete shell and is inspired by a Bedouin tent.[1]

This mosque is a major tourist attraction in Pakistan, Islamabad in particular, and is referred to as a contemporary and influential feature of Islamic architecture.[2][3]

Construction of the mosque began in 1976 after a $120 million grant from Saudi King Faisal, whose name the mosque bears. The unconventional design by Turkish architect Vedat Dalokay was selected after an international competition.[4][2] Without a typical dome, the mosque is shaped like a Bedouin tent, surrounded by four 260 feet (79 m) tall minarets. The design features eight-sided shell shaped sloping roofs forming a triangular worship hall which can hold 10,000 worshippers.[5]

Combined the structure covers an area of 54,000 square metres (580,000 sq ft), the mosque dominates the landscape of Islamabad.[6] It is situated at the north end of Faisal Avenue, putting it at the northernmost end of the city and at the foot of Margalla Hills, the westernmost foothills of the Himalayas. It is located on an elevated area of land against a picturesque backdrop of the national park. Faisal Mosque was the largest mosque in the world from 1986 until 1993, when it was overtaken by the mosques in Saudi Arabia. Faisal Mosque is now the fourth largest mosque in the world in terms of capacity.[7][1]

How A Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) Works

A typical LCD is made up of a number of key components, including the backlight, diffusion panel and LCD panel. The backlight, made up of fluorescent tubes, is the light source for the LCD. A white diffusion panel redirects and scatters the light evenly to ensure a uniform display. The LCD panel is made up of several parts: two polarized glass substrates (one horizontal and one vertical) that enclose the layer of liquid crystals and colour filters. TFTs (thin film transistors) are arranged on the glass substrate with each TFT addressing a particular pixel on the screen . and energized through the use of a switching device and storage capacitor at each pixel. The colour filters allow independent control of the red, green and blue sub-components of the pixel, thus enabling the reproduction of all colours in the colour space. Only a limited number of producers make the LCD panel (i.e., Sharp, Samsung, LG Philips). However, what really differentiates LCD monitor manufacturers is the electr...

Eid-ul-Adha

Festivals occupy an important place in the life of every nation. They reflect the emotional as well as the intellectual side of national life. They mark the cultural aspect of a nation. They tell us how a nation lives its life and what its moral and social laws are. They reflect upon the achievement and progress of a nation. The festivals indicate the way a nation celebrates its joys and pleasures. Like other nations of the world, the Muslims have two festivals in a year. The Muslims celebrate them with great pomp and show. One is Edi-ul-Fitr, which comes at the end of the holy month of Ramzan. It is a gift of God to the Muslims who observe the tests of Raman with full devotion. The other religious festival is Eid-ul-Azha. It is the festival that celebrates Hazrat Ibrahim’s attempt to sacrifice his son, Hazrat Ismaeel (A.S), on the behest of Allah. This act of sacrifice and obedience earned the pleasure of Allah so much that He sent a sheep from heaven and saved Hazrat Ismaeel (A.S) fr...
